This is my mum

Yesterday she would have turned 81. I lost her (we all lost her) 20 years ago. I know relationships are complicated but I can't help but feel jealous when I hear about people even older than me who still have their mums. Worse yet is when I hear that they don't get along. I get it. I do. People are different and parents are no exception. I understand. But when I think about my kids never having a crushing Granny hug or sloppy kiss, and how much I know she would have loved and influenced them, I just feel completely gypped.

Look at this groovy lady. Circa 1978
